Joe Cole delighted by Steven Gerrard’s decision to stay at Liverpool
Liverpool new boy Joe Cole has revealed that he was handed a considerable boost by the news that Steven Gerrard had decided to remain at Anfield.
The Reds’ skipper made the announcement in the wake of Cole’s signing for the Merseysiders, as manager Roy Hodgson begins the process of revitalising the club.
“That was the best bit of news I could have had,” Cole told reporters.
“I know Stevie, he is Liverpool through and through and I know from playing with and against him for the last 10 years what a quality player he is.
“I know how much this club means to him.”
Cole is feeling settled at Anfield already, and with his family around him is looking forward to a new lease of life on Merseyside.
“I am moving my family and everyone is excited and booking their weekends up here. I am going to make it work.
“It’s a massive deal. We’ve just had a young baby girl, but I’m 28 now and I have a good family around me,” he added.
“I know people will make me feel welcome and the response I have had has been amazing.
“I just want to get involved. When you move to a new club it’s important to immerse yourself into everything about it and that’s what I’ll be looking to do.”
