| The Somali National Olympic committee has concluded two-day long-competitions of different sport events intended to mark on the International Olympic day, a historic day annually commemorated by every IOC member NOC.
The two-day commutation was arranged by the Somali National Olympic committee with the assistance from Telcom Somalia, the country’s longest serving Network provider which is termed as the ‘companion of’ Somali sport.
On the first day of the commemoration a hotly-contested football match was held at the SomaliPolitical science University stadium in the presence of high level sporting dignitaries. During the very competitive match the Qodxaaley FC boys defeated their CCD rivals by 2-1.
The following and the last day on the 24th of June the biggest number of spectators poured into the Waberi district stadium hours before different interesting games were presented there on Friday afternoon.
People were enjoying athletics games, karate and teakwondo and traditional dance—it was the first time in many years that Somalis publicly watch traditional dancing, a very interesting event in the horn of African country.
President of Somali handball federation Mohamed Hurshe Hassan who was the chairperson of the Olympic day organizing committee said that for the past several days his committee has been doing its utmost to achieve the implementation of a beautiful Olympic day commemoration.
“Although today we have had a very beautiful exhibition, then in the years to come we hope that Olympic day commutations will be more beautiful than we have had today” the Olympic day organizing committee chairman told the media on Friday afternoon.
On behalf of the name of the president of Somali National Olympic committee a Somali NOC executive committee member Hajji Mohamed Ahmed Olow thanked Telcom Somalia and all those who helped the smooth going of the Olympic day commemorations.
Somali Football Federation president Said Mahmoud Nur for his part said that he was very happy with the participation of his federation in the two-day long Olympic day commemorations.
